“Five Friendly Farmers”
Five friendly farmers
Wake up with the sun,
For it is early morning
And the chores must be done.
The first friendly farmer
Goes to milk the cow.
The second friendly farmer
Thought he'd better plow.
The third friendly farmer
Feeds the hungry hens.
The fourth friendly farmer
Puts the piggies in their pens.
The fifth friendly farmer
Picks the ripe corn.
And waves to the neighbor
When he blows his horn.
When the work is finished
And the evening sky is red

The farmer slipped away with one

“Five Dancing Piggies”

Five little piggies dancing in the dirt,
One fell down and he got hurt.
Mama came running from across the farm
And put that piggy inside the barn…

Outside, no piggies can be found.
They’re all indoors, safe and sound.

WRITING:
1. CLass Book- "Animals on the Kindergarten Farm"- Each child draws an animal and completes the sentence "A ______ lives on a farm."
2. Journals- If I was a farm animal, I would want to be a _______."
MATH:
1. Patterns- Create color patterns using plastic eggs.
2. Estimation- Estimate how many plastic eggs are in a basket.
3. Counting- Cut out 5 paper hens, 5 paper nests, and 15 paper eggs. Number hens 1-5. Glue different sets of eggs on each nest from 1-5. Children help mother hens find their nest by matching the numerals to the sets of eggs.
4. Counting- Make paper barns and number from
1-5 Children place toy farm animals on each barn according to the number written on it.
5. Counting- Make white cows and write a number on each. Cut out black paper spots. Children place the amount of spots on the cow according to the number written on it.
6. Graphing- Graph favorite farm animals.
SCIENCE:
1. Put Lifecycle of a Chicken cards in sequential order. Kizclub.com has an egg story that can be put in sequential order.
2. Pretend to milk a cow- Fill latex glove with milk. Poke small holes in fingertips. Give each student a turn milking the "udder".
3. Make and eat pigs in a blanket.
4. Animals in Mud Snack- Make chocolate pudding and mix in anaimal crackers. Serve.
5. Match animal cards to pictures of what they produce on the pocketchart...bee-honey

6. Match farm animal mother cards to farm animal baby cards- Cow, calf
Horse, colt
Hen, chick
Pig, piglet

7. Children shear a sheep (blown up balloon covered with shaving cream) using popsicle sticks.
ART:
1. Feathered Friend- Cut a chick shape out of yellow paper. Glue on orange beak, wiggly eyes, and yellow feathers. Chicks can be displayed in a nest made out of strips of brown paper.
2. Paper cup Pig- Children cut out a pink circle to represent pig's body. Children paint a plastic cup pink (mix paint with glue so it sticks to cup) and glue on to pig's body to represent snout. Cut and glue on ears, feet, and a tail.
3. Paper Plate Piggy- Children paint a large paper plate and a small paper plate pink. Glue small plate atop big plate to represent face. Cut out ears, nose, feet and glue on to pig. Draw eyes and a mouth with a black marker. Creat tail by twisting pipe cleaner around a pencil and then stapling it to the back of the pig.
4. Cottonball sheep- Cover sheep pattern with white cottonballs.
